The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University, invites applications for a tenure-track or fixed-term faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. This position is research intensive and is intended for an individual who will develop and maintain a federally-funded, independent research program in the area of bacterial pathogenesis. The successful candidate will have significant protected time to establish their research program and will be expected to participate in teaching medical, dental, and graduate students. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications. This new faculty position will be supported by generous laboratory space, “hard” salary support, and a competitive research start-up package. The Department has 16 full-time faculty, an active doctoral studies program, and state-of-the art instrumentation. Onsite facilities include those for flow cytometry, LC/MS, confocal microscopy, Olympus FV1000 confocal/Multiphoton laser scanning microscopes for live animal imaging, laser capture microdissection, phosphorimaging, and electron microscopy. In addition, the Brody School of Medicine has a new modern AAALAC-accredited animal care facility and a well-trained veterinary staff. ECU is located in Greenville, NC, a small city with a population of 90,000, approximately 80 miles east of Raleigh and a short ride from the Crystal Coast beaches and the Outer Banks.
